How to Write a Practical and Honest Blog Post: From Life to Publishing

Saturday Morning: Learning First Hand about Time Share Pitches

We attended a time share presentation that the guest services at our hotel recommended for 2 discounted VIP 2 Park Universal Tickets.

As we leave, I realize this would be a great post and I wish I had a note pad on me.

Saturday Afternoon : Memory Dump and Making Notes for the Blog Post

Immediately after the tour, I get the hotel pad and scribble what I remember from the sales presentation.  I asked my husband to pitch in and remember any phrases and facts they used that I may have forgotten. He does have a bit that he recalls and I scribble it down in a wonderful fury.

We stop by Target and I get 180 page college ruled(can’t write with wide rule) spiral notebook. I spend 5 minutes deciding between red, blue, and black since there is no green. I eventually decide to grab the black cover and proceed to make notes for my blog post.

I’m back at the hotel working on the laptop just doing a brain dump into Wordpress.

Sunday Afternoon: Checking Some Facts to Inlcude in the Post

I write a bit more, checking some facts quoted at h presentation such as inflation and if there was a shortage of timeshares for sale. I found inflation to be around 3% and a big buyer’s market in timeshares, with prices way below their lowest offer.

Monday Evening: Organizing Long Posts into Two Posts

I post a guest post up for my site as I’m still trying to split my post into two complete posts. Lots of rewrites as I want to keep both making sense. I take breaks for Sarah Connor Chronicles’ and Heroes’ fall finales. Both are ‘quieter’ than I anticipated. I’m glad to see Michael Dorn is a TV president. It’s about time!

Tuesday: No Internet Access

I celebrate our aniversary and take the day off from posting. I check to see if any comments were left and realize I can’t get online with the hotel. I read a book, turns out I enjoyed it, Naked Conversations by Scoble and Isreal.

Wednesday: Published Part One and Kept Rewriting Part Two

I decided to publish the first post today and I’ll work on the second one later. I go ahead and double check to see if there were any blog posts I missed on time share. I found one, read and liked it,  and I included it in my posts for readers to check out. I got a lead on the Federal Trade Commision’s site.

I publish the article and watch Life on NBC. He got shot. I quietly weep. The character I don’t want to see shot gets it.

Thursday Morning : Publish Part Two and Check Readers’ Comments

I check with Federal Trade Commission on consumer rights on time shares and include the information in my second post. I also noticed that it’s the 7th highest complaint sent to them in 2007. I publish my post on sales tactics they used at the time share presentation

I check back later to answer some comments from readers. They’re an awesome bunch that leave wonderful stories and tips.

Total time for both posts: about 10 hours

Who says blogging is easy?  :)
