Most Helpful Tools I Use to Stay Productive

by Laura P on December 24, 2008

I have a eclectic schedule. Between my volunteer work and running my blogs, everyday is different. I try to keep organized, but the Getting Things Done approach didn’t work for me. I needed a simple system to keep me focused and motivated

Google Calender helps me keep long term projects on schedule.  I have two blogs I’m managing and next month I’m relaunching another site. Each site has its own posting schedule and Google Calender keeps me on point. I only put critical priorities on the calender such as specific posts.

Read non-fiction books by people who accomplished what they’re writing about.  I’m looking for concrete examples on how they managed to achieve their goals. I also put a sticky bookmark on points that I can apply. Each week I focus on or two points I’ve read. If you haven’t read these books below, you should as soon as you can. You can grab them at most libraries if you want to save money, but these books are useful enough to own and reference.

Pen and paper help me keep track of the small tasks and record ideas. Some errands that need to be done during the eek (non-critical)are usually scribble on my little notepad that I like to keep. Actually I have about three  pads: one in my purse, one in my car, and one by my bed.

That’s it. I don’t use a lot of tools as I’m trying not to be tied down.
