Starting tomorrow I’m running a 30 day trial of the Thesis theme on my personal finance site.
My Goals for the 30 Day Thesis Theme Experiment
- I want to double my average visitors per day. My goal is to have 324 visitors each day on average by November 23, 2008.
- I want to increase my subscribers to 300.
“Content is king.”
I’ve read this repeatedly and I agree that content is vital to be sucessful long term. You can be sucessful with horrible content for a bit, but you just can’t sustain it.
I’ve been blogging for a little more than a year on my personal finance site. I’m learning a good deal on controling my finances and I pass out what I’ve learned so far on handling money. Helping myself and others motivated me to get started with the blog.
I love seeing people responses and having conversations with others. I know that caring about and working on my content has helped tremendously.
“Content is the foundation”
Quality content is necessary to build a sucessful blog., but it is not the only thing. You have to have professional and unique visual style. You need to stick out from the crowd. Tecnorati estimates that 133 million blogs have been track by them since 2002.
Why Thesis?
Here are some features I liked about Thesis straight from the site:
Website frameworks are a big deal. Good ones play a significant role in key areas of Web development, including:
- SEO: the degree to which your code and content are organized and optimized for both search engines and people
- accessibility: your ability to reach different audiences—those with special needs, people using alternative Web browsers, mobile users, etc.
- usability: how effectively your users are able to navigate and interact with your site
- flexibility: how easy is it to get the look you want by providing rich markup for styling and customizations via a control panel
