My Goals for the 30 Day Thesis Theme Experiment (for My Personal Finance Blog)

I want to double my average visitors per day. My goal is to have 324 visitors each day on average by November 23, 2008.
I want to increase my subscribers to 300.

How I Did:

I didn’t make my goals, but I learned a bit from trying the experiment. I have about 100 visitors a day and

I have 186 subscribers on average.

What I Did Right:

Installing Thesis Theme: This is a great resource and has made my blog so much easier to manage.
Keeping tabs on my stats: While it’s not productive to stalk your stats; it’s helpful to keep a record so you can measure your progress.

What I Did Wrong:

Didn’t Use The Thesis Support Community: Part of this is due to my lone wolf tendencies which really harm the growth of my blog. Thesis has wonderful support in their forums. I didn’t participate as a member. I’m going to work on that by asking questions and giving answers if I can.
Didn’t work with other bloggers to enhance my content. There are some wonderful blogs out there that I linked to, but I could’ve gone further. I should’ve emailed some and asked for advice.

What I’m Doing Now:

I just started a week long series on hosting a classy and affordable dinner party. We just had a few of them last month and wanted to share some stuff that we learned. Several bloggers have been helpful by sending in recipes and tips of their own.

It’s not a strictly personal finance topic, but I wanted to expand. I wanted to show how being frugal doesn’t mean being cheap and saving every last dollar. Share with friends and family and enjoy life.

I’m starting to realize that personal finance is a much broader topic than I originally thought. I have been writing in the past year about banking, investing, budgeting, credit cards, etc. Personal finance does cover those topics, but it’s not the scope of it. I’m widening my lens a bit and focusing on personal finance in getting the most bang for your buck when you’re a college student or graduate.

I’m also going to be in contact with other bloggers promoting their relevant content. I’m going to work hard on building a community on my blogs.
